Well – anyone really.

A year away from the Hurly Burly of Internet an a couple of months back in and it is a can of worms.

So I am testing some old ideas of “popularity”, for example This is a link to a search engine which is listing our apartments and BandB in France – if dear Mr Google sees this page – then he may follow that link and he may think it is an important site and give it a big kiss.

Or he/she may think I am a horrid trickster an cast me forever into oblivion.

Ah… the slings and arrows….

I have been planning and working on new Internet ideas for over ten years. A project I am very keen to develop is a focused community for people on the move – there are many of these, but none which offer the support and service I will be giving. I recently got some feedback from Craig McGinty the writer of an excellent newsletter This French Life

Seems I am on the right track…

Many thanks for this – it says in a clear way what I have been trying to express – the time is correct for applied community sites to develop to displace many areas of classified sales presentation.

My aim, as you know, is to create an accommodation rental community, starting with France.

I have similar plans for a real-estate community for people buying property in France as they are needing a lot of investment and practical help, plus the strong interest in Fractional Ownership, all this is fertile ground for integrated communities and I am right in the middle of this with a good owner base and client lists to start.

I am building a trial site at the moment to evaluate the standard software add-ons to Open Realty we think would work best and I am also advertising for technical people to start to get a team together for this.

I need Adsense

To be able to research information, reply to questions and keep this blog running I depend on the advertising I show on the site, a lot of this is Google Adsense. The adverts should be relevant to the information and things I write about, so they should add value to the pages.

I am experimenting with adding a few more adverts into the writing – if you find them useful, please visit the sites advertised. If they are really annoying I would appreciate a comment or email from you.

For over a year now I have been experimenting with "Web2" Internet sites to find ways they can be useful – I personally don't see the point of throwing dead sheep at people or paying real money to send a virtual drink to anyone, and I certainly do not want to receive a picture of something I didn't want in the first place.

But I do believe there is a future in community networking and social websites – we just have not found it yet. Perhaps the Greater Manchester Police ideas will make use of the leverage of Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to find missing people of enable us to report crime as it happens.

This blog is written from my Facebook account and is an experiment to see if this simple integration works – I may mean I can write to a number of blogs simultaneously.

I wrote on www.Twiku.com last year about using mobiles to help find missing children – perhaps this is one step towards that.

If you are going to use the services of any trade person or company in France, especially builders, then you can quickly check their status and things like any judgments against them at the official Government website – it is in English and you can select, pay for and download a lot of information – most papers only cost a few euro and it could save you a lot of grief and expense.

You can even check on me to see my official working status, and registration details.

If anyone who offers services is not registered, then don’t use them, it is illegal for you to employ the services of anyone in France who is not correctly registered and you risk severe penalties by employing them.

Property Search With Eyephone

I love the future, it seems to have happened yesterday – as soon as I write about a technological development I believe is coming, the next day I read about parts of the idea which are already there.

Recently I have been writing about using Google and a mashup of searching tools to look for property to buy, in a recent blog post on Twiku I mention an application from Trulia and today I found another ingredient from the European Space Agency which adds one more tool to make searching for a home a simple and inexpensive experience and, importantly, a lot of fun.

I am working on my community site to give a service for people thinking about changing their lives on www.PortableSoup.com – being able to find a new home is probably the most important single decision and I hope that I will soon offer a search, find, identify and contact service using these new techniques.

Blogging with Flock

The last two weeks have been a frustration of involvements in selling property – frustrating because the way homes are sold in France is fraught with greed and confusion. It takes a lot of time, time which I need to spend developing new Internet ideas.

Today I am sorting out the way I can work with a lot of new tools so that I can work more efficiently and get the websites operational – Flock seems to be one I can use for blogging and extending my work into new communities.

So this is my first Flock blog – I am only posting on wwwFruk.eu as this is not syndicated so I can watch what happens.

So far I am finding the text editor is better to use that the WordPress editor – but I don’t know if uploading images is as effective, so here is an experiment – uh, no there isn’t as there seems to be no browsing facility, I can only find ways to load images from links.

Good Photos

Using good photos is important – usually this means I have to take them myself as to “take” them off the Internet means finding out about copyright and paying royalties – there is a new system where I can use some of the best library material called Picapp which I am trying here – it carries their advertising if you mouse over, but there are some occasions where I can add a photo where I would otherwise not been able to.

This photos is supposed to be in Pezenas – it looks like several avenues of trees near here, but none in Pezenas town that I know of – a nice photo though it looks very like some of mine – hmmmm – I can now get photos like….

Kate Moss – for example on my blog.
