Sunday

Sunday is usually a quite day and the day I try to clear my desk and work on the house/garden – it is a day for the family as my 21 year old daughter Clio is home from University in Montpellier for the weekend . Sunday lunch today will be a leg of lamb (probably New Zealand).

This morning has been taken up with editing my general Blog at www.Twiku.com as there have been a few postings about Madeleine McCann, the little girl missing in Portugal. Some of the comments give rise to positive ideas.

Ths afternoon I need to anylise some figures for investments and I have a facscinating project, to rationalise a property we have been offered in Roujan. It is offered by a businessman and is a complex of apartments, shops and storage, plus a barn and other buildings slap bang in the middle of the high street – what I find interesting is that he is offering a fully operational, well established electronics and electrical business with over 3000 clients, 500 of these are regular repeat customers. All this is lumped into the property price. I think it is a bargain, for one million euro you have a home, investment income and a living.

A lot of my clients want to move to France, but they know (or very soon learn) that getting a job is next to impossible and settng up a business is very difficult. I am looking at offering a business brokerage service alongside our real-estate offers.

I decided not to sit at a computer all afternoon but to demolish some old stairs going up to the apartments we have in our property. This is a big old house and when we bought it three years ago it was operating as a family house for the 19th century part and as a gite complex in the older buildings – we had had enough of rentals in our previous home and decided to leave the rooms empty.

However the demand for accommodation is so big that I have decided to modernise them and make my ideal rental propety – probably as a BandB – after twelve years of telling other people how to do it and running our own place it is about time I put this experience into good use.

Anyway the exercise is good for me – so a few tons of rubble have been loaded toay and I am planning how to layout the new heating systems and whether to put an elevator into the apartments.

So this blog may turn into  “Confessions of a Realtor” and a French version of  “Fawlty towers”
